About GovComm
The Governance Committee (or, affectionately, GovComm) is a joint committee of the board of directors and executive council tasked with the creation, maintenance, gating, and overall well-being of OSTA-AECO’s core governing documents.
Our three pillars
When this committee was first formed, we identified three main goals that we wanted to achieve as part of what we thought was an ad-hoc committee. Quickly, we realized that our goals didn’t really have much in the way of measurable completion—that is to say, instead of getting to a place where we could say our jobs were “done,” we agreed that these goals were actually integral tenets to the ongoing well-being of OSTA-AECO’s corporate governance and operations.

The content of this macro can only be viewed by users who have logged in. | Arjun’s first experience with policy-writing was when he served as a student trustee on the Halton District School Board. While he was there, he overhauled the Student Trustees policy to bring the document in line with the provisions in the Education Act as well as to create a framework for online voting procedures (which was quite a feat in 2012). Since then, Arjun has been involved with governance at OSTA-AECO and led the organization through two governance reviews. He has an unprecedented attention to detail, and his favourite part of writing policy is ensuring that documents are written in a concise, organized, and accessible fashion. |
